Step 1: Create your illustration
Create illustrations in Procreate
Step 2: Export the illustration as .png
After creating the illustration in Procreate, turn off the background color and export it as ".png". Then airdrop the ".png" to the laptop.
Step 3: Edit in Adobe Illustrator
Create a document in Adobe Illustrator and transfer the Procreate design to the new Illustrator document. Since Procreate doesn't have a ruler, it was difficult to get a true sense of scale, so Illustrator was used to accurately size the illustrations.
In Illustrator, display the ruler by pressing "command + R". Then draw my guides by clicking inside the ruler at the top or left, and drag them to the size sticker you want to create.
After that, drag and drop the ".png" into the Illustrator document and slowly start shrinking it down to fit my guidelines.
Step 4: Print
Once the stickers are resized in Adobe Illustrator, they are ready to print! After printing, allow the stickers to dry for about 30 minutes before proceeding to the next step. You can choose HTVRONT Printable Vinyl .
Step 5: Lamination
It is strongly recommended that you laminate the stickers after printing. Laminating your stickers ensures they remain waterproof, and it will also make them more durable than if you didn't protect them. You can use this laminate! This is awesome!
To laminate the sticker, take the printed sticker and place it on the cutting mat. Remove any small lint that may have fallen on the sticker as it dries, so I highly recommend that you do the same.
After making sure there are no small fuzz on the sticker, use a large ruler or rubber spatula to apply even, steady pressure to carefully stick the laminate. I recommend using a spatula, but as long as you can apply steady pressure, a ruler can also do very well.
Step 6: Cut
Most tutorials will show you how to make stickers with Cricut. Not this tutorial! No - we'll go back to basics and teach you THREE tips on how to make your own stickers without a Cricut machine! It's easier than you might think if you have the right tools for the job.
1. Paper cutter
If you're cutting out straight-edged stickers, a paper cutter might be your best friend. Paper cutters have thread guides. With a wire guide, you can get a very precise cut and make sure you're cutting on the edge.
If you want to make stickers with more complex shapes and images, you can also do that without a Cricut or an electronic cutter. The trick? Scissors! But not any scissors. Since sticker paper has a layer of adhesive, you will need to use a pair of scissors with a non-stick coating. Otherwise, the scissors will get stuck with the adhesive.
3. Kiss Cut
"Kiss cut" means that only the top adhesive layer is cut. This leaves the back of the sticker intact so you can easily peel the sticker off the back. You can kiss cut without Cricut using some simple tools.
You'll need a self-healing cutting mat pad and a sharp craft knife along with a ruler to create your own kiss cut without Cricut.
