Can I Use Adhesive Vinyl on Shirts?

Adhesive Vinyl is very similar to stickers, it can be used to make customized decals. Just like heat transfer vinyl, adhesive vinyl is available in a variety of colors and different finishes. Compared with heat transfer vinyl, much less equipment is required to apply adhesive vinyl. When using adhesive vinyl, you don't have to mirror it because it will be placed face up into your project. For smooth surfaces, this is a good choice.

Can I Use Adhesive Vinyl on Shirts?

The simple answer is, NO.

Adhesive vinyl is not a good choice for fabrics. It cannot be used in a heat press, so it is not a good choice for use with shirts or fabrics. It can be applied on the T-shirt, but it will come off after washing and even when you wearing the shirt.

What Type of Vinyl is Best for Shirts?

While you have several options to consider, there is only one that works best. That vinyl, of course, is heat transfer vinyl. It's also known as HTV and is specifically used for fabric projects. This vinyl is not only suitable for shirts, but also for pillowcases, t-shirts, or any fabric you can imagine.
In addition, you can choose from different types of vinyl such as glitter vinyl, chameleon vinyl, metallic vinyl and holographic vinyl.

What Can You Make with an Adhesive Vinyl?

You can use adhesive vinyl for many different projects. You can put adhesive vinyl on vases, pots, mirrors, windows and even wall tiles to give your home a new look. It's also easy to make a commercial sign or sticker for a metal house, car or van, just make sure to get a adhesive vinyl designed for outdoor use. Adhesive vinyl is also a great material to decorate glass and mirrors because they will adhere firmly to a clean surface. There are basically two types of adhesive vinyl: removable and permanent.

  • For cups, permanent is always the best choice because it can withstand washing. Moreover, permanent vinyl adhesives have a higher tactile feel than removable adhesives.
  • For glass surfaces, we recommend using our permanent production line.
  • For plastics, there are many types of plastics, so it is sometimes difficult to tell which vinyl to use.
  • For ceramics, ceramics are similar to glass, so I also recommend that you use them permanently.
