What Is Transfer Tape Used For?

Transfer tape is a material that has a removable adhesive on one side. It can be roll or sheet, and can be made of paper or plastic film. Some transfer materials have a paper backing, some do not. Although the size, appearance and adhesion of the transfer tape may vary, they all have the same function: they allow you to easily move the adhesive vinyl design from the paper backing to the final project. The clear film with grids allow you to easily position your design right where you want it. Click here to learn how to use transfer tape for vinyl.

Do You Need Transfer Tape for Vinyl?

Yes, you need transfer tape for adhesive vinyl. But if you are using HTV(heat transfer vinyl), you don't need it. Transfer tape is only for adhesive vinyl, which is also called permanent vinyl.

Tips and Tricks For Using Transfer Tape:

1. Ensure that the surface of the project is clean and dry. Use alcohol to wipe clean plastic and glass surfaces.

2. If the adhesive vinyl does not separate from the lining, just sand the lining back to the vinyl and peel it off again.

3. For best results, peel off the transfer tape at an acute angle.
